What
criteria do you follow to determine the amount you are willing to
pay me for my diamond(s), gold or jewelry?
Our offer is based on the following criteria: Quality, rarity, value
and marketability of the item as objectively determined by the jewelry
industry as a whole. In the case of a diamond, size is also a determining
factor.
Should
I initially tell the buyer what I expect to get for my jewelry item?
It is not advisable to initially place a dollar amount on what you
would like to receive for your diamond(s), gold or jewelry. Leave
it up to the buyer to submit an offer based on current market values.
Oftentimes the seller will make the mistake of either underpricing
what they wish to be paid for the item, leaving themselves open
to a lowball counteroffer by the buyer, or overpricing what they
wish to be paid for the item, taking the chance of possibly leaving
the buying office without an offer altogether.
Why
is Arizona Jewelry Buyers the best way to sell your fine jewelry?
First, we offer a free courtesy evaluation of your items by one
of two Gemologists, licensed to buy, with more than 60 years combined
experience in the diamond, gold & jewelry industry. If it becomes
your decision to sell your valuables, then you can expect a fair
and honest offer. Your selling experience is conducted in a discreet,
confidential and secure manner and in a comfortable & profession
environment. Why settle for less when selling your most valued possessions?
Avoid intimidating experiences at pawnshops or small businesses
that buy gold and jewelry on the side, without proper expertise
or jewelry background.
If
a transaction were consummated, how will I receive my payment?
Once a transaction is agreed upon by both parties, a check will
be made available to the seller, in the full amount on the same
business day.
Why
not Pawn Shops, Gold Parties or Mail Order Jewelry Buyers?
Pawnshops are usually in the worst parts of town and are an uncomfortable
unsafe atmosphere to show or sell jewelry. Sometimes parking, entering
and exiting the building is dangerous.
Gold parties are happy
and fun to drink some wine and catch up with friends on the latest
but many mouths are being fed at your expense. The hostess makes
10-15% of the gross purchases. The buyer, the assistant, and security
also get a cut. Their money comes out of what amount you are quoted
for your pieces. You are paying for the party. Sometimes “shills’”
are at the party acting as sellers to encourage the selling atmosphere.
Mail order buyers are
clearly at an advantage once you drop that pouch in the mail. You
clearly have to wait 7-14 days to transact your business and get
paid. You can’t see your gold jewelry being accurately weighed
or tested for purity. The same for any gemstones. You are totally
at the mercy of the voice on the phone. If immediate funds are your
objective, this is not the proper method.

What
is the differance between a Lab Report and an Appraisal?
An appraisal is a description of jewelry or other item (artwork,
rug, antique, auto) by a professional who will place a value for
the purpose of insurance, probate, or a legal matter. Quite often
the appraisal it written by the seller of the item and the value
listed is always inflated usually exceeding the purchase price by
as much as four times it's true value.
A gemological lab report
is a professional examination of a loose gemstone by a professional
trained person using professional equipment to determine the identification,
nature, origin, quality and weight of the gem in its current condition.
A lab report never assigns a monetary value to the item only an
evaluation of QUALITY. The industry standard is a GEMOLOGICAL INSTITUTE
of AMERICA (GIA) lab report which is recognized globally for impartial
accuracy and consistent standards. Many jewelry store chains hire
and staff their own labs that do not have the accuracy and standards
that GIA adheres to. These reports are bias in the quality stated
as there is a vested interest in the outcome.
